Dr. Begou Olga obtained her bachelor degree in Chemistry from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2013, her master degree in “Analytical Chemistry – Quality Control” from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 2015 and her PhD. in analytical chemistry from AUTh in 2020 (Thesis title: Method development and validation for the determination of drugs and metabolites in biological samples).
For two years (2020-2022) she served as a post-doctoral researcher in AUTh and BIOMIC_AuTh team. Alongside, she undertook the management of of the national research infrastructure FoodOmicsGR. Olga, also serves as guest co-editor in Applied Sciences Journal, Special Issue “Analysis of Contaminants and Residues in Food” and Metabolites, Special Issue “Metabolomic Analysis for Biomarker Discovery”. During her PhD she obtained two scholarships funded from the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT), the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (HFRI) and the Ministry of Education’s Education and Lifelong Learning Program. She worked as an analytical chemist in several research projects, with regard to targeted and untargeted metabolic profiling of different biological matrices of human and animal cohorts and food samples.
Her research is focused upon the development and validation of analytical methods for the determination of different drugs and biomarkers in different matrices (biofluids, tissues, food), using advanced technological platforms, such as LC-MS/MS, ORBITRAP LC-MS and GC-MS. She is an experienced researcher on metabolomics / lipidomics-based studies. She is also experienced in use of advanced statistical software for data mining and metabolites annotation. She has participated in more than 30 scientific conferences and co-authored 51 publications (h-index 9), in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
