Lipidomics profiling

Lipidomics describes the various lipid species present in an organism or sample. Lipidomics involves systems-level identification of pathways and networks, interactions with other biomolecules (e.g proteins) and other moieties in vivo.

Application areas include various clinical sciences, nutrition, food biotechnology and others. In particular application in metabolic or cardiovascular diseases, liver function and disease are of high interest.

We have successfully realised a number of R&D projects gaining experience in the analysis of various specimens (tissue, blood, foods) utilising our RP-UHPLC-TOF-MS Lipidomics protocols on TIMS-TOF platform.

Applications

Type II diabetes
Inborn errors of metabolism
Gastric cancer
Rheumatoid arthritis
Rheumatoid arthritis
Dietary modulation
Metabolic syndrome

What are the essential amino acids?

Amino acids are organic compounds composed mainly of nitrogen, carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. Our body needs 20 different amino acids for its proper function and nine are considered essential: lysine, valine, histidine, methionine, isoleucine, leucine,  phenylalanine, threonine, and tryptophan. Essential amino acids can only be obtained from diet and are the core of many vital processes.
